First off, I need to say I am a true believer in DeWalt. I own and use their products and am very happy, but this is the first time I have taken to writing a review. The 4 amp battery I purchased does not fit my tools properly. The battery is slightly to large to slide in place like all my other batteries. You need to jam the battery in place when putting it on and yank the battery to get it off. I am concerned that over time the battery will break the plastic receiver on my tool.

My favorite battery dewalt makes
Perfect size and power
Just wish it wasn’t so much money. A 2 pack of these cost more than a 2 pack of power stacks.
Other then that these batteries are awesome

Great batteries, buying more
Great batteries, just as much power as the large 4ah batteries but in a much smaller package. Great for hvac because its not sticking an extra inch off the bottom of your tools in tight spaces. They are durable, accidently let mine slide of a 2 story roof (not worth chasing) picked it up no issues at all.

I received my 4Ah batteries and was anxious to start a project where I could test them more than just sticking them on a drill and proving that they work. We had a small house trim job coming up and that was the perfect opportunity. I put one on a 7 1/4" miter saw and one on a 16ga trim nailer. The nailer was used for 8 hours and the battery was still going strong. The battery on the miter saw lasted around 5 hours with almost constant use. I really don't like to take a battery all the way down because you take a chance it won't take a charge, but this one charged right back up and went back to work. I like the size and may consider my next battery purchase to be the 4Ah instead of the 5Ah.

It's a Personal Preference
I don't claim to understand the internal working's of batteries, I just use them and want them to be ready when I am. Lithium Ion are those. This is a different size for the battery pack. There is nothing wrong that I can find, except the DeWalt belt clip I mounted on my DCD790 drill had to be formed a little to allow the wider battery to attach. As you can see from the attached pictures, it is wider and slimmer. I am guessing that this pack uses 5 of the 3.75 Volt cells, but just a guess. The DCB240 is lighter at about 3 ounces less. It has the same capacity at 80Wh as you can see in the pictures. I think the thing I like the best about it is the additional width. When my DCD790 was mounted to the double stack battery, DCB204BT it was much easier to topple my tool over. When mounted on the DCB240 single stack battery, I had to try really hard to tip the drill over.
So, I guess like I said, I think it's a personal preference (not knowing battery chemistry inside the newer version).
Of course it's DeWalt quality so I don't see how anyone could go wrong.

There's not much to say, it's a battery. They're performing great during a kitchen remodel I'm working on. Long lasting and all the power I need to hang cabinets. They're a little wider than the rest of my batteries, which can sometimes have the benefit of increasing stability when I set down my drill.

Great runtime and weight balance
These batteries came in handy on a in-law unit remodeling job my wife and I did. I used these batteries to power my Graco ultramax cordless air sprayer and paint all the base boards.
The sprayer came with two 2Ah batteries and I’ve used these before to paint trim and base boards but don’t last very long and I have to switch batteries midway through a paint job. These were a great balance between having enough power and weight. The sprayer still felt light and balanced in my hand. The new 4.0 compact batteries had more than enough power left after spraying all the base boards.

Perfect size and weight for handheld tools
These 4.0 batteries are excellent. The size is just larger than my old 2.0 batteries but offers twice as much power without a lot of extra weight or added space. Perfect for tools you hook on your belt and wear all day. A nice compromise for hand held tools to last a long time but not kill your wrist from holding them all day

Have not gotten to use this product much but seems to be on par with all Dewalt tools. The slimmer design is wider and longer than regular 4ah batteries which makes the tool less likely to tip over when standing.Like all my DeWalt tools and batteries I am very impressed with quality and design. Thanks DeWalt for making these batteries weigh less and keep the power the same.Would recommend these to all who like less weight with bigger base

A lot of battery in a small package
Love my Dewalt tools! These new 4ah battery packs are half the size of the old 4ah battery packs and nearly identical in size to the 2ah battery packs that many of us have. I love my old 4ah battery and my 6ah battery but due to the size usually reserved them for my larger, higher current demanding tools. That won't be an issue any longer with these compact 4ah battery packs. Over Christmas break I decided to build myself a new workbench and got through the entire project with just one charge on one of these bad boys. My Dewalt 20v tools did all the work including cutting the wood with my circular saw, drilling dozens of pilot holes with my drill, and driving in screws with my small impact.
