Bosch PR20EVS 1 HP Colt Variable-Speed Electronic Palm Router

Bought this at Lowe's to replace the 40+ year old Porter Cable. There is just one problem. The clasp is worthless. It will not hold the base in place which ruins the project instead.
A 3-inch hose clamp is a lot stronger than the clasp. Wrap the hose clamp around the base, below the clasp.

This was purchased to finish off the top of a coffee table, and the quality of the job it did is wonderful. The router is light enough to handle with ease but powerful enough to create such a smooth finish. Way to go, Bosch!

This router has great power, but the depth lock and the collet can't seem to stay in place. The bit slowly works itself out and it does not matter how hard I wrench down on the not, it slips EVERY time I use it.

I really hate this router, actually, as it takes twice as long to get something done because I have to keep stopping and resting the bit and depth. I will replace this router and just dump it in the trash.

I own several Bosch tools, but this one is terrible.

I have hat 2 of these routers for the past 20 years. Until I wore them out. I use them for my CNC machine. with the constant use and hours of operating them at a time they have proven themselves over and over as a hard working tool.

I loved this little router until I didn’t. I bought this router in November of 22 and the first week of December of 23 it started surging/dragging and then wouldn’t come on at all. I checked the brushes (light use) and they were fine. Blew out the housing and plugged back in. Same problem. Very intermittent like it had a short.
It is literally 2 weeks out of warranty and I had to finish some Christmas gifts so I put it in a drawer and bought another Bosch palm router (ANOTHER Huge disappointment and a different story) to finish my projects.
Today I had more time so I pulled the switch and speed control and cleaned them in detail and the hunk of junk started working again (for now).
It appears that it’s a common issue with these routers to get dust in the switches causing problems.
I’m done after two bad (but different) Bosch pony routers! Back to Yellow and Black.
Let me add that I have 3 Bosch 1617s and absolutely love them. Bosch needs to up their game in the palm router arena.

I received this as a gift a few years ago. I didn't need it at the time so I didn't try it out. Today I was going to use it but could not get the 1/4 inch bit to fit into the collet. I asked my 15 yr old son for help and he promptly broke the collet in half. I'm trying to replace the collet but the only one I found on the Bosch site says not for the PR20EVS. How do I get the replacement part? I would prefer to give an incomplete or undecided rating, but that isn't an option.

Item is ok. The biggest issue is the depth locking. It slips. Also when turning to the lock setting, the depth moves. I own four routers (had more in the past) this is the only one that doesn’t hold the setting tight. Makes it hard and way more time consuming to use.

I purchased this router to do edges and small bowties on some projects. I used the router to round the corners of my walnut mantle. A year later I was building a walnut countertop. I was using a 1/4" bit at about 1/4" depth to put in a small bowtie, I was going to make several passes and increase my depth. Removed less than 1 sq in and sparks started to come out of the top and now it won't turn on.

The router is nice and compact and easy to control and will not get away from you when routing a board. I used it at my previous job routing numbers in to 4x4 post for camp site numbers. Product has plenty of power for its size. I strongly recommend this product.

I bought this to do the edges on a hobby horse I made. It works great and has plenty of power. It is very easy to control.
