Don't buy until feeding issue fixed
The string keeps getting jambed. When I look online, this is a very common problem. I have found that I get about the third time I try to extend the string using the tap feature, it gets jambed and has to be disassembled. Initially, I was in love with the loading procedure, now I need to look for options. Don't buy this until DeWalt addresses this issue (and hopefully makes the fix available to all their disappointed loyal customers that already own this.
DeWalt makes great tools, but they swung and missed on this one.

Sell me a weed eater without the battery and charger? [AND a different kind of charger than my other tools from you.]
DeWalt, you have lost me forever.

Unfortunately, we bought this trimmer a few months ago and now that we are using it we hate it. The string head turns the wrong way (counterclockwise) and throws everything at our legs. The protective cover does nothing. We have never had a trimmer that turns this way and probably won’t have this one long either.

String trimmer stops working in less than 10 days
I just bought this string trimmer as a combo kit with the blower less than 2 weeks ago. For the first 7 days, it worked fine. Now, the motor is just unable to run at full speed and with such low speed it does not trim or cuts grass as expected. The battery is fully charged. I replaced with 2 more fully charged battery. The issue remains.

The string feed keeps failing, both jamming up and one string breaking off. It's useless!

Motor burned up in one year
Bought model DCST922 20vMax trimmer in June of 2022. No winter use. August 2023 motor stopped working. I thought it was a dead battery. Recharges, disassembled head looking for debris blockages, confirmed grease was still present and clean. Everything looks as it should, but motor is completely dead. So basically, the motor is good for about 6 months of normal use before it burns up. Not what one would expect from a grass trimmer. I have a full line of DeWalt 20v products, from drills to compact chainsaw, none have had an issue like this. I would not recommend this product.

Don't buy this DEWALT it's JUNK!!!
It eats up batteries. After the initial spool of whip the the whip distribution was horrible always jamming up. I even, only wound just one side, it was still horrible. (The unit has two whips.) I kept using it and being frustrated with the batteries dying and the whip jamming up. Then the bottom plate of the spool broke off and I had to order a new one. I couldn't get the old spool off and then in the process of replacing the spool. I realize I am shredding plastic and it not coming loose. that's when I realize this thing is JUNK! why have I put up with this thing for so long. I should have returned it months ago.
DO NOT PURCHASE this thing save yourself the frustration.
I went back and bought another cheap Black & Decker. I am much happier now.

Poorly engineered - garbage product
After 1,5 seasons of light use on a standard size property (less than 45 mins a week) the motor and gearbox failed on this unit. We submitted the unit to an authorized repair center and Dewalt indicated the failure was due to normal wear and tear and the unit was out of warranty - furthermore replacement motors and gearboxes are not available so the only option is to buy a new unit …. Or not purchase anymore Dewalt / Black and Decker garbage product any more. Given the shameful response to what is clearly poor engineering and dubious product quality I will not be spending another dime on Dewalt or affiliated company products and i would recommend anyone considering this Garbage design to look elsewhere and purchase goods from a reputable company that actually stands behind its products and provides at the very least some acceptable level of customer service - shame on you Dewalt!
