Bought to use in my old nicad tools to use with my new lithium batteries and product is horrible. Can’t get it to release from tool and now stuck with it on my drill. I have a whole line of DeWalt tools and it seems like they want you to buy an adapter for each tool. Poor design. Would give negative stars if I could. Hopefully DeWalt takes this into consideration and do something about it

2 stars because it works. I can't give it any more because of how difficult it is to remove. You are forced to purchase this or all of your 18V tools will be useless. I am a man with man hands and can't get it off without 2 flathead screwdrivers and some cussing. This is poorly designed for quick removal between tools.

There was a sale today on the 6ah batteries so I bought a two pack. I’ve used the adapter for years but it doesn’t fit with the new batteries. Same as a previous post with pictures, there’s an extra ridge of plastic that won’t let it slide all the way down. It says nowhere that’s it’s not compatible. Might just shave those nubs off but hoping there not there for a reason like they know it doesn’t work but just never said anything.

I would like to understand why you DO NOT note that when not in use you MUST remove

I cut the 2 little tabs off each side if the tool adapter and all batteries work with it. Best tool yet saved all my old tools that use 18v and yes all flex volt batteries work after cutting the tabs off.

Bought one of these converters and a couple of cheap (1.5Ah) 20V Max batteries to try and breathe new life into my old DeWalt tool set, and it's like I have new tools again. Yeah, all the wear and tear is there, but the power is back up to what I remember as new.

Says it's compatible with all 20V... it isn't
I bought two 20V 8ah batteries because this adapter says it should work with them. When I went to put the battery on my drill, there are two little plastic prongs keeping it from making contact. And they're not flexvolt or premium or whatever nonsense, just regular dewalt 20V batteries. It works great with small batteries that last a half hour, but that's pretty stupid they didn't at least mention on the packaging that the normal sized batteries are incompatible. They didn't mention it at all. Now I ended up spending a lot of money on dewalt junk for nothing.

I've had dewalt tools for years, kept with them because I've been able to continue using my older 18v with this adapter. Bought a new 3 pack of batteries the other day. Got them chartered and went to go to work and thays where disappointment set in. The 2ah and 4ah batteries work no problem. The 6ah, the reason I got the battery pack, doesn't. There is an extra ridge on the battery preventing you from attaching it.
Nowhere on the package does it disclose this. I loomed at home depot (where I bought it) and it listed exclusions, but not to this particular product. I went to dewalts page and again the disclosure didn't list this item, it actually was very different from home depot. The direct exclusion from dewalt is that it won't work with 20v/60v flexvolt batteries, the 6ah is not one of those. According to a call I made to dewalt it accepts up to a 5ah battery.
Now I'm stuck wasting time mitigating this issue on my dime rather than working on the projects I have customers waiting for. I was apprehensive about buying more batteries because they are spendy, but with a sale and another promo I got I caved. Now I'm not so sure I'm going to reorder additional items.

I usually go for OEM parts but these have a few flaws. First, they don't seem to want to come out of a tool into which one puts them. The 2 side parts which need to be pinched to remove the unit from a tool, don't seem to work well. The 2nd problem is that the units don't seem to accommodate some of the larger batteries. They work well for the batteries which come with the drills. I think that these are sub 2 AH units. The factory 10 AH units won't fit into these adaptors-there is a little piece on both sides that stop the battery from going in all the way. I bought a unit from Amazon for ~$15 which seems to fit the 10 AH battery.
