Useless warranty service.
Warranty coverage brutal. Wasted two months only to be deferred by DeWalt to a third party who told me this is classified as an “accessory” and the warranty is 30 days.
All over a piece of plastic “guard” on the back of the unit … that shouldn’t be made of plastic … that broke. I’m trying to go to the aftermarket to try and buy a couple of these (for when this inevitably happens again) … but it’s highly unlikely I’ll make dewalt my first choice anymore when it comes to tool purchases.
Not nearly good enough.

The edger works great until the housing starts to crack. Blade replacement is impossible. The entire housing broke off.

The plastic housing broke and went flying off after less then a year. I think I used it about 4 times.

Purchased the 60v combo kit which included the weed whip and blower. Purchased the edger attachment as an add on. After 4 uses of the edger attachment, the guard broke in half. Not what I expect from a premium name such as DeWalt

I wish I would’ve read more reviews before purchasing this. I did as instructed putting a screwdriver in the lock hole. And it busted the housing. I used it a handful of times before changing the blade out. But in doing so it broke the plastic as well. So now I’m left with an unusable edger.

Was great... until it failed prematurely
I loved it for the first 2 mowing seasons I was able to use it for, until the major design flaw revealed itself. The guard, wheel, and depth guide are all part of a single housing, and are made out of plastic. Once that cheap plastic cracks, the tool becomes an unusable AND dangerous propeller. I was trying to edge my driveway the other night, when I noticed the wheel was unstable. Upon examination, I found that the plastic guard was cracked all the way around where it bolts onto the blade assembly. So there is nothing wrong with the blade or mechanical parts, but the entire edger is now unusable because of a cheap plastic part that is integral to the design and doesn't seem to be a part I can order a replacement for from Dewalt.

Like several of the other reviews, the nut holding the blade on was nearly impossible to remove. The locking mechanism shearded off very easily. Very disappointing design and quality.

Great when it’s new….until you change the blade….
Works as an awesome edger. Cordless 60v power. Once the blade wears down and needs to be replaced…good luck getting it off the spindle. The lock notch on the housing for the lock bar sheared the key way. Spindle nut is jammed and I’m not sure how to proceed now. No guidance in the owners manual, can’t even find tips on YouTube. This is a total bust and now I am without a functioning tool. In short. Awesome when new. Works great. Just don’t wear out the factory blade!

Blade retention nut was too tight
I just received this today. I tried to remove the blade so I could measure the center hole and order a spare. I followed the directions and turned the wrench in the proper direction (clockwise to loosen). The retainer bolt was on so tight, the cheap pot metal housing crushed before the bolt came loose. Destroyed this junker before I even got to use it.
I finally put the blade only in my bench vise, used a long wrench and was finally able to break the bolt loose without causing further damage to this thing (it is a 1"hole).
I hate returning things, so I tried it out edging my lawn. Unlike my Stihl edger, there is no front wheel or skid plate. As a result, the plastic housing scrapes on the concrete walkway that borders the lawn.
I finally read the other reviews that mention the same problems. Both are EASY fixes if anybody really cared enough to actually make this tool usable.
Soooo disappointed.
Never again

Unable to change blade without breaking housing…
The edger itself worked reasonably well, however as others have reported, changing the blade is made nearly impossible as the metal housing breaks when trying to secure the head from spinning while torquing the nut. Tried every reasonable way to do it but no luck essentially making this a single use (blade life) product. Disappointing as I’m invested in the Dewalt battery platform.
