I’ve had this for over a year now and have used it a lot on a remodel and other jobs. When used overhead the power stack and other light batteries are best. When used down the bigger batteries are good too. Use good sandpaper and you get good results. Just make sure you empty that dust collection good after you finish a drywall job otherwise the ghost of drywall past will haunt you (knock it around then maybe finish with a blow gun to keep it clean).

I purchased this for a job where having a cord was a pain, and now it's my go-to. It has a sturdy feel but not overweight. Can be used for both heavy duty and precision finesse sanding applications. The dust port isn't the best but its solid everywhere else.

Already had more sanders than I needed - wife and I each had an RO sander before our wedding (mine Bosch, hers Dewalt, both corded), plus a 1/4 sheet finish, and a belt sander. However, we had started a kitchen remodel project and needed to sand all of the existing cabinets in-place. Wife was concerned about dealing with a corded tool on ladders and such, so ordered this package from Amazon.
I was concerned about runtime on the 2aH batteries, so I planned to use my 5 amp units. Once I tried that, I decided I didn't really like the balance of the tool with the larger battery mounted, so switched back to the 2 amp. With a fast charger, generally the dead battery is charged back up before you will exhaust a new battery, so as long as you have a spare you can keep working. I really appreciated the light weight and balance of the tool (with the 2 amp battery installed). Was able to make short work of the existing varnish on the cabinets (removing or deglossing, preparing for paint) with 120 grit without excessive fatigue on our arms.
I don't know that I'm sold on the dust collection - all told, we probably sanded a hundred square feet of cabinet surface, and maybe had a couple tablespoons worth of dust in the bag. Obviously, hooking up to a shop vac or dust collector would have been better, but that defeats the purpose of a cordless tool. The on/off switch could be a little better, it doesn't have a good, positive feel in either position. Likely because of the sealed dust protection, but it takes just a little more effort than I would like to start/stop the tool.
All told, this sander did the job, and did so better than I expected for a cordless tool. I'm glad it's a part of my collection, and will likely be the go-to tool for future sanding projects just because it doesn't need a cord dragging around behind it.

Not the quality I expected from DeWalt
I purchased this sander approximately 2 months ago for personal purposes to complete a refinishing project, as I use DeWalt almost exclusively in my business and am familiar with their products.
The sander has an attachment to collect the dust to reduce some of the mess made via sanding, which has a plastic twist on attachment.
After two weeks of intermittent and light use, since the amount of dust left unfiltered was quite surprising during each use, I took a closer inspection and noticed that the plastic attachment to the dust bag was cracked, and dust was being pushed through the crack and into the environment.
I have tried numerous times to contact DeWalt for customer service and a resolution to the situation, to no avail. I am in Canada and am not able to reach anyone, and issues such as this are quite disappointing on a new purchase.

This thing is the bomb! Small lightweight and does a great job. Never owned a cordless sander it’s so nice to not have to pull out a cord anymore!

As Usual DeWalt has come up with another Winner.
Very compact and handy. Great for jobs of all sizes. Very nice for fast in-n-out jobs.
I bought the 20V router to go along with this sander. It's a must have as well. Keep the new
products coming Dewalt. One suggestion, If you make another 20V small miter saw, make it dual bevel. I don't think it would knock up the price enuff to not be worth the investment. Thanks...........kw

Universal vacuum adapter works
To the 1 star reviewer "beaverfood", the DWV9000 universal adapter fits 1 1/4" vacuum hose, NOT the shroud on the end of the hose, the actual hose itself. That is why the inside is threaded, to screw onto your vacuum hose. Also, why give the sander a negative review because of that? Not knowing how to use a tool is a poor reason for a negative review.
