DeWalt DWHT38116S Atomic Compact Series 16 FT TAPE MEASURE

Great little tape measure. A couple small but game changing updates: I love that the spring is actually powerful enough to pull the tape back in even when it’s pointed down. And the slot in the bottom to allow a controlled rewind instead of the entire tape measure snapping back is a nice touch. Definitely would recommend as it’s size and build quality are phenomenal.

I had used the Dewalt 16" atomic. First, I like the size. It is perfect to carry anywhere. It is very compact and strong built. I had used the measure tape in a sliding door that it is going to be removed. I like it that is wide and it has the number break down. it was easy to read the number. also, it is strong when you measure against the wall. It keep steady. This is must have. Perfect size to carry. One thing that it was missing on the back of the tape. No measuring. No magnetic. I wish they can add the magnetic feature on the end.

I recently got this compact measuring tape so I could use it when I’m in the go to measure specific items and areas because of it’s small size, I could hold it in my belt without the bulky feeling of other tapes.

What a great compact tape measure that packs some awesome features right in the palm of your hand. The 16ft tape is small enough to easily put in your pocket! The build quality is top notch and the choice of the plastic housing and rubberized grips mix together in a complete lightweight package. The grips provide all the traction you need in wet and muddy environments, exactly where you need it, with your bare hands or when wearing gloves. The integrated finger break is perfect for controlling the retraction of the blade for quick measurements or engaging the thumb lock to lock it down. The thumb lock is so smooth, I had to compare it to some of my other tapes and this one feels the best. The end hook is standard with a wide face, slot to grab on a nail head or provide a pivot point, and the three strong rivets provide strong durability. It does not come with a magnetic attachment but the two rear raised rivets look like it will accept one from a different DeWalt tape. The tape boasts 13ft of max reach, I found that around 11ft is the sweet spot for mine. The high contrast yellow tape color is easy to read in bright sun and low light conditions. The fractional markings are a great addition, no more counting all the hash marks, it’s an instant read! Bright red indicators are provided for standard wall stud spacing (16 on center) and black diamonds for joist and truss spacing. I find myself using this tape measure over all my others now, it just feels great in my hand. I’ll be picking up a 25ft tape next, these things are amazing.

Very good tape measure. Small and compact. Has a very good base to set down. Don’t have to worry about dropping it. Has a decent standout. Tape seems rigid and well built. This can be used by contractors or by those puttering around in a shop. All around decent tape

Great tape measure. Light weight, easy to read. I like the thumb hold so you can quickly hold or release the tape where you need it. It compliments its bigger brothers in size. Prefect carry size for every day use.

The size and weight of tape measure is great for smaller projects and especially for woodworking like cabinets, desks, shelves. The fractional markers are very helpful to speed up process of measuring. I let my wife use it for measuring windows in our house for curtains and she loved the ease of having the fractions. She didn't have to ask me what 48 and 2 big lines meant. I didn't give this tape measure 5 stars because like most tape measures they don't live up to their claim of extendibility. This one gets the closet I've seen at 11 feet, but not the 13 feet. Overall, if you want or need a smaller tape measure this one is a great choice and one I'd recommend.

I am a hobbyist woodworker and I require accurate easy to use measuring tools. I compared the tape against the other brand I use and it was as accurate as the other one. The markings are easy to read. The locking mechanism is strong and reliable. When I didn’t want to use it, the finger hold was very convenient and useful. It fits nicely in my hand and most importantly it is easy to see when I put it down on my bench.
The hook is convenient when I need to measure with the marks close to the surface of the wood. I only wish the fractional markings were printed on the opposite side as well when I need to measure from right to left.

I already have the 9' and the 25' DeWALT measuring tapes and have used them for years. I first used the 16' tape when measuring the factory floor for placement of equipment on a new production line. I like the rigidity of the tape that could be extended without folding and twisting over 10'. This made it easy to reach out to the building column for a measurement in the air rather than squatting to the floor. It is not as big as the 25' tape which made it fit in my pocket or hang on my belt much easier between uses. I liked the cut out in the bottom so I could drag my finger on the tape to slow the retraction without getting pinched by the tang as it reached the end. Great thought there.
