Does not work the distance advertised. Outdoors on a cloudy day, can see the line for only a distance of about 10', maybe a bit further if you move around a lot and look at multiple angles. If its sunny, range is significantly less. This is the second Dewalt laser level I tried, and I am returning it as well.

The third line on the side isn’t something I use often but it’s one of those things that are invaluable when needed. Worth the cost over a two line just to have for those instances.
The green line is seriously bright, way better than red lasers. It has really good visibility in everything except the bright outdoors. A detector is a must buy accessory if you plan to use in those situations but that’s true of any laser level.
I also prefer to use a tripod, while the magnetic bracket is nice, I don’t often have many options to use it in the world of residential reno. Buttons are simple and the housing of the laser is plenty sturdy if cared for.

Highly visible, durable, and accurate!
DeWalt’s 3 Line Green Laser Level has been a joy to use. I did experience a few issues (more on them later) but overall am very happy with this product. The durability is top notch, visibility is great, and adjustability has no complaints.
The laser level has a very tough build quality giving me the confidence that if I accidentally drop it it should still work without issue. The built-in magnetic pivot bracket is very strong, allowing for fixing easily to metal surfaces or the accompanying mount that can be attached to surfaces via it’s built-in clip or screwed. The laser level also features the standard female 1/4-20 receptacle for attaching to a standard tripod head.
Before getting this level I wasn’t familiar with the differences between red and green lasers. Quick research informed me, in short, that red lasers tend to not be as visible as green lasers. Typically red lasers aren’t usable at greater than 50 feet, nor are they much good for outside use where the light is competing with the sun. Green lasers can also tend to have a more refined and cleaner visual line.
DeWalt claims a 100 foot range with this laser, without an extender. This is clearly not based on outside use as I tested on a slightly overcast day and could not see the line anywhere near 100 feet. However it was still quite visible at around 25 feet. I didn’t measure greater than this but suspect in the same conditions that I should be able to make out the line at twice that distance. In a dark environment, the 100 foot range is quite believable. I tested in the corner of my 28’x31’ shop with the lights off and could very easily see the line across the diagonal of the shop.
As I mentioned at the beginning, I did experience a few issues with this product, both rather minor in my opinion but probably still worth mentioning. The first issue really isn’t a big deal, perhaps strictly a quality control issue. The first couple pages in the manual weren’t fully cut so the pages on a quick opening felt double thick. It wasn’t until further investigation that their ends were still stuck together. Nothing some scissors can’t fix, but if you weren’t paying attention you would have missed the instructions on pages 3-4 and 7-8, or more if your manual was worse off than mine (though I suppose more pages like this would increase the likelihood of the individual noticing the issue…).
The other issues relate to the batteries, specifically the low battery indicator and accessing the batteries. The lid to the battery compartment took me a little bit to figure out how to open. Did I mention this product is durable? I about broke a fingernail trying to get the compartment open. This was largely due to not exactly knowing what was physically keeping it closed. In short, push the lid tight to the body, pull the tab out past the stud, then lift it open.
I only used the device a few times over a week’s time, demoing its brightness and features to friends and family, with the batteries it came with. The case includes a spot to store 4 AA batteries the laser level requires to operate. So each time in-between uses, I removed the batteries from the unit and placed them in this battery spot within the case. About a week after having gotten the unit, I tried to turn it on and found the lasers wouldn’t stay on. It perplexed me. There is a low battery indicator light and that never lit up. I don’t technically know as of yet whether that part is defective on my particular unit or I just never noticed it light up in my eagerness to play with the new device. All I know is at that point in time, the low battery indicator didn’t light up (perhaps an issue with me taking the batteries out between testing). Suffice to say I didn’t know why the lasers weren’t staying on. Long story short, I put in some fresh batteries and brilliantly the lasers stayed on! I now keep the batteries in the unit and four extra batteries in the storage part of the case as backups.
All in all I love this product! Highly visible, highly durable, and highly accurate. From hanging cabinets, leveling countertops, hanging a line-up of picture frames, to installing coffered ceilings. This level is a great buy!

I love the ability to shift the line after hanging
This laser comes in a robust plastic case, with real latches, and hinges (none of one piece plastic cases that break with time). Feels very solid in the hand. Markings/buttons are clear and easy to read/identify.
The green laser is noticeably brighter and easier to see, including outdoors, than my red laser from another manufacturer. I like the mounting options, and I especially like that you can shift the vertical line by a few degrees once you mount it to an object - that gives some additional flexibility, and its a great feature I haven't seen on other devices.
Battery life seems OK so far, I like that it uses AAs rather than proprietary Lithium, as this makes for a smaller, lighter unit.

I got this laser level in preparation to do some board & batten in our entryway. Unfortunately I was unable to get to it, but I did play around with it to learn all I could.
The laser is very sturdy. I was very pleased with its size and bracket attachment. The laser level is self leveling up to 4 degrees. I am so glad to add this to my tool collection. I will use this for hanging anything and installing built-ins.
The only issue I really noted was it doesn’t come with something you could attach to the wall without drilling. If you plan to use this anywhere you can’t just drill into a wall it would be necessary to purchase a stand alone tripod.

I wish that I had this years ago! Whether installing tile, trim, cabinets, or anything else requiring level lines on the floor, wall, or ceiling, this is the tool to use.

I have a familiarity with basic laser level devices, but this was my first professional-grade laser level device.
The packaging and carrying case were superb, and are perfectly capable of protecting the laser level in transit. The device itself is excellently built, with robust mounting solutions and satisfying buttons and knobs. While the knobs and buttons had a pleasant haptic feedback, I would have loved to see LED lights which would correspond with specific laser lines. I often find myself clicking the wrong button to turn off a laser. I imagine that, if I were to use this device daily and interact with the buttons often, then I might subconsciously know which button corresponds with which beam alignment. Until then, I would have loved to see LED indicator lights for active beam lines.
Since this laser level is my first to self-level, I would have appreciated a small beep or audio feedback when the device was not within the 4 degree tolerance. During my initial trial, I was worried that the blinking I saw was a result of shipping damages. Once I had successfully positioned the laser level within the tolerance, the blinking stopped and I was happy to see solid, consistent beams.
During preliminary trials, I was frequently flipping through the user manual to troubleshoot. I would have loved a dedicated "first time start-up" pamphlet to reduce confusion from flipping through the user manual. Alternatively, I would have also liked to see a larger user manual, as the diagrams and step-by-step tutorials included in the user manual are not conducive to readability. When a step-by-step tutorial is spread over two to three pages, its very easy to get lost where you are in the book. As for the diagrams, I recommend a magnifying glass to understand the labeling and distinct features.
Overall, the laser level performed brilliantly. I was extremely pleased with the consistency and dynamic range of operation. The only thing that I found to complain about was how hard it is to familiarize yourself with the machine based on the included literature and user interfaces. Once you figure out how to work the device, the 3 Line Green Laser Level is a knockout.

Simple, Easy and Game Changing
I live in a home built in 1910 and just about everything needs an update. The bathroom was first and the 3 Line Laser Level allowed me to visualize how the tile and wainscoting would align with each other. Because the level uses lasers that create visually guides on the floor, walls, and ceiling at the same time, I was able to step back and look around the whole bathroom and make sure everything was aligned perfectly. I was then able to lay all of my tile and install the wainscot accurately. This would have been a nightmare without the laser level.
Durability: The case that it comes in feels incredibly durable and has strong latches to make sure it doesn't open accidentally. I actually dropped it while taking it out of my car. It fell onto the concrete and it didn't even leave a mark! Upon opening the box, I was shocked at how durable the Laser Level felt. The whole thing feels "protected" and I didn't feel like I needed to baby it at all.
Ease of Use: Simple, simple, simple. I was initially worried that I wouldn't understand how to use the level but it's only three buttons that turn each line on and off. The lines will blink if the level is moving and will become solid when in place. You can't mess it up.
Final Thoughts: I love this thing and plan to use it on every project. It not only saved me time, it gave me confidence in knowing that all of my work was square. I highly recommend it!

This laser is straightforward and easy to use! The construction of this laser is heavy duty meaning it should stand up to some abuse. This laser seems made to last a long time

Perfect three line laser!
Limitless applications! I am a frame to finish carpenter and I’ve been using lasers for years - from other green lines to red dots, DeWalt brands and others. Most of the time I have to use two different lasers because neither has all three functions as this DeWalt. I do a lot of rehab/remodeling in Western MA on timber frame homes where nothing is plumb/level/square. This laser will replace my current lasers and quite a few of my traditional bubble levels.
Can’t wait for my next kitchen! It’s going to be so easy to layout cabinets, floating shelves, tile etc. I love the floor to ceiling cross line for framing new walls or laying out studs on a pitched ceiling. Super easy to level all new window sills in a room without a level floor.
I plan on ordering the transit laser detector for exterior purposes. You can definitely see the laser outside on a sunny day but not from one corner of a house to the other.
I recommend purchasing a high quality tripod for this, specifically one with a ball head otherwise it interferes with the downward cross section.
The wall mount options are perfect. Magnets are super strong however I couldn’t get it to stay on a drywall corner bead. A small screw for the mounting plate works just fine and the spring clip is great for steel studs (but that’s it). I wish the spring clip size was 1 1/2” for framing lumber.
In all, nothing but great things to say about this laser, I expect it to be part of my kit for a long time!
