Took some time to figure it out
I bought one used off the internet and at first I had BIG issues getting it to work. Sensor would be 5-6 inches off and change from to hight to to low . Was about to pitch it is the trash till I figured out I did not have it lined up properly on the tripod. Since I mounted it correctly it has worked flawlessly Now in all honesty I have not removed it from the tripod since I it has started working correctly.

Based on limited use so far.
I don't have any complaints yet with the laser it self, but I am in agreement that the receiver sucks. You definitely need to up the speed above default in order to use the receiver but it is way to sensitive. Really needs to have a longer sensor and have a sensing mode that is not so sensitive for rough grading jobs. and I agree that the rod mount is not robust enough. If I can find an aftermarket receiver that works I probably won't even use the OEM receiver. If DeWalt comes out with a better receiver I'm sure I would probably buy it. Hopefully the DW080 receiver is better and if so should be available to purchase for use with the DW079.
