Troublshoot Double indirect height
I need to do a lot of double indirect height mesurements and I always get an error on my first mesure ( the high point). w

Questionable indirect measurement results
I got this tool to measure indirect distance. Namely, I want to measure the hypotenuse + let the device measure the angle, and have it calculate the horizontal distance to the target.
So I did a few tests, for example, here is a readout for a certain measurement I did:
hypotenuse = 3927.0 mm
angle = 25.5 deg
resulting distance = 3526.0 mm
but if I try to back calculate the angle: acos(3927 / 3526 ) = 26.118 degrees. <- notice that this angle is different from the angle reported by the device during the measurement.
I repeated this calculation a number of times in various slant angles and I always get an error of about 0.55 degrees. Below 1.5 degrees slant range, the angle error starts to disappear, but I'm guessing that it is due to distance measurement resolution limit.
What is happening here? How can I trust the system?
p.s. - I performed the angle measurement calibration process, and still the problem remains.
p.s.2 - I tried to upload a device screenshot but failed

This device cannot be used in the manner the instructions suggest. Because the actual position of the laser is not explained relative to the case, whatever is used as a pivot point will not result in an accurate trigonometric calculation.

been using this unit for 2 years, dark attics to outside 300 plus, have had my doubts but checked long distant against this unit and it was spot on.

Viewfinder doesn't work properlty
Bought this for my job as a property appraiser. I frequently need to hit gutter downspouts at long distances in bright light, where you can't see the laser on the gutter. This item worked well for the first week, about 10 inspections. After that, I started getting odd measurements. I checked the saved pictures of my measurements, and can clearly see the viewfinder is off, causing me to think I'm hitting the gutter when I'm really hitting the side of the house or an object just beyond the gutter. I've tried using the viewfinder calibration several times, but it doesn't seem to fix the issue. Unfortunately, I've had to toss this tool into my junk drawer as it is just not reliable due to this issue.

Great for lineal measuring.

Super interested when I first saw it.Somewhat disappointed after using it for a week.
Most of my use is outdoors under the 100' range, sometimes going up to 200'. Got this to replace my optical rangefinder that works well over 30'+. The GML400CL works about 70% of the time. Even with a tripod the success rate does not really improve. Just make things more cumbersome.
The main feature are the photos. This unit would be fantastic if you could transfer photos directly via WiFi. Simply cannot be done via the Bluetooth connection, well at least from what any of the literature says. Got to jump through hoops to get it on an iPad.
They tell you it is a 5 mega pixel "display" but the output is a 24k file. That works out to less than one mega pixel. Do you need 5? No, 2 would be good. Especially when you are dropping your photos into a site plan.
The indirect calculations for height is a great feature. Pretty accurate.
Says is you use anything but the included charger you run risk of causing damage. Yet you plug it into a laptop and it starts to charge it. Does not that damage it?
Would not recommend it as advertised or without Wifi. Product has tons of potential but is shortchanged.

Amazing tools within such a small instrument
Definitely a lot of options on this tool and it is easy to navigate it. the fact I can measure up to 400 feet is a game changer especially with today’s job market. I have been able to take measurements and the BOSH GLM40CL saves them along with pictures. There is no need for a notepad. It is accurate and easy to use with instructions within the tool to walk you through. It has a zoom option on the picture to help it hit your target more accurate. Strongly recommend the BOSCH GLM40CL.
GOOD bye batteries.
