I think the key to this tool is to know its limits. This is not the old school corded 1,000,000 rpm grinder we all have in our box. This is a 20v cordless tool. Where it shines is with cutoff projects, quick sanding <15min, light grinding or wire wheel work, and similar. This isn’t the product to use to take an entire coat of paint off your car.
So, know the role when you purchase this. The one downside I have found is the guard always seems to be in the way. Not sure how else to explain it other than, it’s always where I don’t want it to be. I would like to fit it into tighter areas but just can’t quite get it there at times.
In short, it does what I need it to do. For everything else I have a 120v corded grinder.

Batteries not capable of running tool !!
I just purchased this grinder and when I tried to cut a piece of thin wall hollow tube it overheated my 2 batteries. Then, to add insult to injury, it took a long time for the batteries to cool off enough to try and charge them.
Lost time = Lost business!! = lost income!!! Thanks DeWalt. No where in the manual does it mention anything about needing a certain battery to operate or how to avoid overheating batteries. Very ( extremely ) disappointed in my favourite “go to” tool maker.

Fine as a grinder but not as a cutoff
Works fine as a grinder. I wouldn’t use anything less than a 6 battery for it. The 2 battery will last 2-3 min. Not great as a cutoff tool. Requires a small adapter ring for the cutoff disk to fit. It’s a very hard part to keep track of. Lost mine in the bottom of the tool box somewhere. Figured I’d buy another one. No part number in the manual. No part number on the website. I called dewalt and was told they do not have a part number for that. Bottom line is it works fine until you lose a small additional part. Then you have a $160 grinder but that’s all it can do.

The type 1/41 cutting wheel guard can be bought on Amazon under the Black & Decker brand. $24. For the "One-touch" guard system. Hope this helps. DeWalt should get their act together better when organizing accessories for their products. They have this problem with other products and models, they seem to indicate accessories can't be available but they really are available under a different name or part number. Besides that, this product is awesome. 5 stars.

Good grinder. Works really well. I have not had any problems so far. I use the 6mah/9mah batteries for this and it last a while.

how to secure grinding discs
At the risk of sounding a bit foolish, how do you tighten the disc washer? Looks like it needs a normal 2 prong tightening tool but comes with a single Allan key? Where does the Allan key even fit?
Then I read that its a "tool less" disc change?

It seems it cannot be used with cutoff wheels
Even though the manual show a special type 1/41 guard as an option, apparently it is not available for the type 4. First Dewalt referred me to the type 27 that comes with it, then one for a 7" grinder.
Now they have just stopped replying. Dewalt has always been a good tool, but if you can't use it as at is advertised and do it safely it's pretty useless.
It's probably fine as a grinder.

For a Cordless Grinder, this really can't be Beat!
All these dudes here with complaints(? about this Grinder are full of ..it ! I mean come on, hello? This is an Awesome CORDLESS Grinder! Ya got a Big Job in your Shop? So use one connected to 110!!! Like all DeWalt 20V tools, this one Rocks for outside Job Sites or when you don't have access to your Generator. In my case, I build Movie Sets, often out on remote Locations, so this is a 100% must-have Tool in my Kit. And NO... I am NOT paid for my Opinion. IF you are ever in a Sound Stage in LA and can watch the Art Dept at work, you'll see DeWalt tools all over the Set! No Brainer! 'Nuff said!

Never even put a battery on it
Bought this to use type 1 this cutting wheels for work, but it only comes with a type 27 (open-side guard. Called DeWalt to get a type 1 guard. They gave me part #643772-00. Got this guard but it cannot be used on this tool because the guard uses a clamp-on fastener and the tool has a ratcheting release lever fastener. Called DeWalt again to see how to install this type 1 guard and was told to read the user's manual. Called a factory service center. The guy there researched the part and the tool and said there is no type 1 guard made for this tool. I returned the tool and now I am looking for a tool that will do what I need to do.
