Cannot remove the shroud, the yellow button will NOT press in. This is the second AND THE LAST Dewalt tool I will ever purchase. I am going to attempt to sell my 20V batteries and move over to a tool that is of better quality; Milwaukee. The last saw I purchased was also a piece of junk. NO MORE...save you money folks, might as well use a hack saw.

Cool little tool. I definitely use it more than I thought I would but it is there when I need something small to cut out insets in sheet metal.

Light weight, powerful, and compact
I am a sider/exterior finisher and I bought this cut off tool a while back to cut siding, especially in the winter. It works extremely well for what I do, it is light weight, saves my hands from using snips, and does not crack the siding in the winter.

Not enough power to be useful for professional use
This item was purchased for around the house use and in a professional setting for automotive repair. For extremely light duty work, such as cutting plastic or thin sheet metal, I found this to be very handy. However, press it into service for any serious work, such as modifying brackets or cutting thicker gauge aluminum (say, 1/16 inch or larger), and this tool falls flat on its face. It has an automatic shut off feature that cuts power if it either detects a heavy workload or kickback apparently, though nothing is described as such in the manual so it is constantly shutting off with very little workload. Also, it has insufficient cooling and seems to get unreasonably hot around its cooling vents. It simply doesn’t like working hard, so it’s not suitable for a professional application. I’ll have to stick to the inconvenience of an air die grinder, apparently.

As I started a big home renovation project, I was looking for a cordless angle grinder (I have 3 corded ones but no cordless). The friendly salesman at my local tool shop asked me was I'd be using it for ; I then realized that I'm mostly using grinders for tasks it "can do" but for which it wasn't specifically designed...He suggested this little guy and I'm sure glad he did! Cutting long gable angles on vinyl siding, trimming aluminium soffit and fascia, notching ceramic tiling, hardwood flooring or composite deck boards has never been easier or cleaner. This little tool does it all, while having great battery life (much better than any grinder). It's super ergonomic, lightweight, and the fact that it can cut in fwd/rev means you can always direct the dust/shards/filings away from you. The dust cover is a nice addition (albeit not very useful to me) and the fact that the kit includes 3 different blades is great (that yellow "multi material" blade is a gem in its own right.
Super happy with this great little tool!

I use this tool for cutting vinyl siding every day. Way faster than using my snips. I cut some steel with it also worked awesome. The handle is a little towards the small side but still easy to hold!

Small, Light, POWERFUL!!!
My first use of the 20V XR Cut-off wheel was simple and fast. Straight out of the box, pick a cut off wheel, and ready to work. Combined with the 20V Power Stack battery, everything is light and portable. It made easy work of clipping off a few stripped screws. I trimmed the edges of my new vinyl coated fence with it as well. Small enough to carry around, powerful enough to get the job done.

The cut-off tool does exactly what you need it to do all while being a small, lightweight, compact tool. It fits and feels great in the hand. With all of that, it makes the tool very easy to handle while cutting material. Having the ability to change the direction of the sparks is nice when able to (depending on the wheel being used). My only issue is with the dust shroud as it seems to me that it won't last. With it mostly plastic, only snapping on, and not able to be tightened, it will come loose if too much force is put on it. Other than that, the tool free adjustable depth shoe with the Airlock connection for extractors works great. All around, a great little tool.

Tried to use the 3 inch Cut-Off tool to cut some pieces of ceramic tile for a backsplash, did not cut very well with tile being loose, installed tile and then tried to cut holes for electrical outlets, did more less a plunge cut and the saw worked beautifully, saw worked well getting in tight places, got the job done in no time with little mess, I sure I will find other uses on metal and so forth, a wood blade would be great with this saw. Great little saw.

Great tool for very tight places
The DeWalt Cut-Off Tool is an extremely compact cutting tool that can get in tight places and accomplish what almost no other tool could do. The ability to cut many different types of materials (metal, wood, concrete, etc.) in one tool adds to the versatility. I was able to use this to cut off some large #6 rebar inside of an already formed concrete wall before pouring. We had to install a beam pocket and this tool was able to cut one piece of rebar that was in the way of the pocket. While it did take a little while (maybe 2 minutes or so) to get through the metal, it was able to make the cut in a spot that would have been incredibly difficult for any other tool.
