I had purchased about 2 months ago had my 4 9ah 20v 60v battery and I used to power up my small microwave and for whatever reason the thing starting smoke from the top portion where batteries are connected then came to realized that it had melted all my batteries from port and ruined portable charging station

Lack of pure sine wave is what holds this back
I have a ton of FlexVolt batteries and 3 of these units, however the output from it makes electronics either fail to work or function in a way they clearly aren't happy with the modified (noisy) sine wave. Plug a fan in and it will make all sorts of hums and buzzing. If this thing were to be pure sinewave I would love it and it would be 5 stars. Originally was thinking about using it as a furnace power backup but I feel like it would likely short out the circuit board on it so I bought an inverter generator for that. Haven't looked hard yet on a device that will take the output from this and make it pure sine-wave but if there was something it would make it more useful.

I've had this machine before in the past and it was great and recently just purchased this again and got it delivered today 5/19/23 I used it in my auto detail business and it works great powered my hart shop vac 3 in 1 extractor and also powered my small steamer I would recommend this to anyone, I do have a generator but having to get gas, gets heavy this is a good small job alternative.

Simply a great product. Runs almost anything!
I bought one of these to use as a backup power in case of an emergency. I own over 20 DeWalt batteries of various sizes (4 9ah flex volt, 8 6ah flex volt, 2 15ah flex volt, 2 2ah 20V, 1 5ah 20V and a 1.5 ah 20V...) and tried all the different configurations. It works incredibly well with the 6 ah and up. I bought a second one of these inverters and keep one in the car and one at home. I take one camping off grid and can run anything including a coffee maker, microwave, doggy dryer for my messy golden retriever..lol. With 4x15ah batteries it lasts forever. The 4ah built in charger could be a bit faster so I invested in 2x8amp and 2x12amp chargers to top up all the batteries. Yes it is only modified sine and could potentially cause a problem with some electronics but I haven't experienced anything so far. I would definitely recommend this for anyone looking for portable power without having to use a fossil fuel generator.

Not pure sine wave - needs to be for electronics
Probably awesome for basic power needs. Thought it would be great for a back up power supply for my furnace in case of a power outage. Furnace doesn’t like the modified sine wave. It is not stated anywhere clearly when purchasing.

Building cabin in the woods and don't want to deal with the generator noise and stink. This product is perfect for my needs, just remember, it's NOT a generator so don't be trying to run a planer or huge compressor with it. For most tools, it's perfect. I also use it to charge my chain saw batteries extending my sawing time far past what my body can do.

Too much power for small projects
I really don't know why they don't make a smaller like 600 watt that you could put like 3 -60 volts on and run a laptop and monitor or TV. This is a power hog and don't last converting unneeded watts. Could sell a million of this type if was smaller and lasted. Im not carrying this block to shows and have it only last a few hours. Just as well carry a car battery and inverter.

I have a LOT of DeWalt 20v tools. I spend a crap ton to keep the tools protected like the 2.0 storage system. I wanted to buy this $500.00 charger. I couldn’t sell my wife on it. Our power went out and we have a bearded dragon that needs heat. I told my wife the battery charger is a power supply too. She put 2 and 2 together, so she bought me one. It’s so convenient to be able to charge 4 batteries at once. Well the power wend out again yesterday. I rushed to the rescue with my new power supply and 4 fully charged 60v 6 AH batteries. I felt like a super hero, until I found that the power supply kept the 60 watt heater on for 1 hr and 40 minutes!!! Really, that was it? I’ve never had a disappointing DeWalt tool. It’s still a good charger, but less than 2 hrs on a 60 watt heater? I’d still recommend it for charging but…

You'll have any number of reasons to want this device. My specific need is quiet remote outdoor lighting, and I'm not disappointed.
A quick test with 5Ah batteries (of various vintages -- none of them terribly old or new) and 6 led floodlights drawing a total of 1.05A had lighting for just over 2:40h, or 160 minutes. I need to get a 4th 9Ah battery to test the bigger boys, but I can imagine that 4 matched 9Ah will run about 5 hours.
Flipping the math suggests that I'd get about 10 minutes of constant 15A power out of those 5Ah batteries, which isn't a ton, but is probably a good start for when I'm desperate. (Thinking about a blender on the beach, or a chopsaw for a few cuts when you can't get power.)
On the downside, it would have been nice for have something in the handles to help wrap a cord around.
In the neutral category, this thing is heavier than expected. Not bad, not good; just a bit of a surprise the first time I picked it up.

I bought this a week ago after checking it out for weeks and it is by far the best thing I have purchased by Dewalt .
