DeWalt DCST972B 60V MAX* 17 in. Brushless Attachment Capable String Trimmer (Tool Only)

Got this from Amazon. I’m heavily invested in Dewalt batteries and have had good luck with a previous Dewalt trimmer. This one has a serious design flaw, grass gets wound up in the mechanism and shuts down the motor. I have to remove the battery and unwind the grass every few feet of trimming. Tried to return it to Amazon, they say to send it to Dewalt. Tried to return it to Dewalt, they say to send it to Amazon. Ridiculously poor tool and ridiculously poor service. I decided to continue using it since I’m stuck with this expensive tool. Cap fell off and I can’t find it, can’t find a replacement. So annoyed!!

More powerful that most, if not all gas trimmers this price. I use it here in New Mexico cutting anything from overgrown leach fields to thick dead thistles. Thicker string is a MUST, otherwise you are wasting your time.

This worked pretty well for the past two years that I've owned it. For the past two years, I've been cutting the same yards, in the same manner, restringing it the same way, using the same string. Now all of a sudden, the string will not feed when I bump it. As a matter of fact, I've been bumping it so hard and so often that the pole is now bent and loose.

Anyway, it was recommended that I simply buy a new head for the trimmer. So, I contacted DeWalt via this website's chat feature. They gave me a phone number for the service center nearest to me. I called and told them my problem and said I think I need a new head. They looked it up, and DeWalt doesn't even carry that part anymore!!! Additionally, I've been looking into replacement heads that aren't made by DeWalt, and so far I can't find anything that will fit. So, I'm stuck with this very expensive, useless pole. I have a working battery which I could use if I purchased a new DeWalt trimmer, but why would I do that again?

This was a very expensive mistake. Meanwhile, the parts in my yards that need trimming are growing, and growing, and growing....

I bought this item exactly 18 months ago and used it for less than 90 minutes total before it stopped working. There was supposedly a 3 year limited warranty on it. Apparently so limited that it doesn’t exist. The word I got from Dewalt service was that there was no coverage and I could pay almost the same as the purchase price to fix it or have them ship it back to me non-functioning and I pay shippng cost. Very disappointed with the product and absolutely disgusted at the lack of manufacturer support. I had to leave the tool with them to avoid paying to get back a useless piece of equipment. If this isn’t dealt with effectively Dewalt will never be added to my tool set again.

This product works great, when it works! Stops while using it, starts right right back up. Stops and doesn’t work for a day or two! Finally gave up!!!

this was the worst product I ever purchased, a real piece of junk!!!!!

I moved to make all of my tools to batteries over the last couple of years and I love the Dewalt battery operated tools....except for the string trimmer. I've bought two over the last six months and they both broke within weeks of purchase. Apparently they cannot handle trimming thick grass...both times I used in heavy grass, the trimmers just stopped working. I love Dewalt tools but I'm very disappointed with the durability of the trimmers...I want to stay battery operated so I'll probably need to look at another manufacturer.

I just bought one today and it has so much power I love it

The trimmer works great but it has one serious problem. Grass or weed parts wind around the head under the compartment for the string and they get stuck there and there is no easy way to get them out. This causes the head to freeze in place and it is impossible to rotate the head to line up the holes for the line in order to load it. The loading process is also unnecessarily complicated. I had to waste time this morning trying to get the wrapped grass out from under the head.
