Milwaukee 2904-20 M18 FUEL 1/2" Hammer Drill/Driver

Extremely disappointed in life expectancy of this drill, and repair. Right in the beginning of this drill it occasionally we just stop and I always thought it was a bad battery connection maybe I didn’t click it proper give it a little jiggle a little tap and it be running again but apparently it was inside to switch the whole time. Once the drill goes bad a simple thing like a slide trigger cannot be replaced instead of making it a plug and play, the trigger is usually what goes bad on most cordless tools for that matter even corded tools. To repair the trigger you end up having to buy basically the entire interior of the gun the whole electronic works for over $170 when the gun itself only cost $199. So basically if something goes wrong with this very well-built gun, believe me I know I ripped it open I pulled the whole gear unit apart and looked at this thing, it is solid and heavily built. But because of a simple bad trigger this gun is now destined for the landfill at my local sanitation department that makes no sense this was purposely done it could’ve been a plug and play switch. Now do I buy a new Milwaukee or go to a different brand like a Dewalt, I’ve never been a fan of Dewalt but I can hit Amazon by a battery adapter and still use all my Milwaukee batteries; but first I will check out their parts list also, they all probably pull the same crap now not fixable throw it in your landfill and buy a new one. I have around a dozen or more Milwaukee 18 V fuel cordless tools I do not know if I will be going with Milwaukee after this. And the worst part to me is I am retired this hammer drill almost never gets used, the impact driver that came with the kit is used quite often even for the drilling of small holes that is why I never use the drill/driver. I should mention it’s the 2804–20 not the 29 but I’m sure they’re built the same non-repairable. I have a Makita and a Panasonic yes Panasonic cordless drill that I used in the NYC carpenters union on a daily basis for well over 10 years, I went through two of them as a 25+ year employee of NYC carpenters union. And have you ever seen a Panasonic drill absolutely no frills simple only 3/8 inch chuck no hammer drill and that thing lasted forever and I’m sure I could open it and replace parts if I needed, And not at the total price of a brand new gun. Oh and why I’m complaining this is not in the proper section for this, I give their 18v high output HD 12.0 battery two stars, the thing has never taken a full charge and it runs out exceptionally quickly. Best chuck in the industry? Come on, mine didn't even make it a year.

Great update to the existing product line. Good trigger control and Balance for use.

Keeps stopping , drilled a few 1"holes in softtwood , took ot ice fishing and drilled 3 holes ok , after that it just kept stopping.

Side handle and auto stop feature makes this much easier and safer.

Great drill loads of power with the quarter of the size. If really fits into small places.

I had to buy a new one because my old one died and it was not even use that much. A lot of the electronics in the Milwaukee’s die early.

It was great for 2 months. Then it stopped working.

The new high rpm top speed is a huge upgrade. I will be buying a 2nd very soon.
