Milwaukee 4274-21 Description

The Milwaukee 1-5/8” Magnetic Drill delivers the fastest drilling and strongest hold on ¼” steel in its class. It’s 13 amp motor delivers the fastest drilling w/ annular cutters or twist drill bits. Equipped with a 2-speed gear box the tool can be adjusted tool-free between annular cutters at 475RPM and twist drill bits at 730 RPM.

The permanent magnet base operates without electricity for continuous magnetic hold even during power interruption. Activating partial magnet mode with a ¼ turn of the magnet nob allows for faster, easier hole alignment. This magnet technology makes the Milwaukee 1-5/8” Magnetic Drill better for vertical and overhead drilling applications than traditional electromagnetic models.

5 star product.

We used this drill in a tool and die room to repair a large machine tool production fixture at 12 threaded hole locations where M12x1.75 screws are used to tighten swing clamps. Over time we had made repairs using HeliCoils, then heavy wall Keenserts until finally they were blown out beyond repair. We located over each existing hole with a plug we turned, drilled and tapped for M18 and made our own inserts from M18x2.5 drill rod which we drilled and tapped for the clamp screws. Worked fantastic. Very strong magnet and smooth action. It saved us from having to dismantle the fixture to be able to use either a TrakMill or CNC mill and got the fixture back running production in a few days instead of a week and a half. 5 stars for how good it works, my only complaint is the lack of an adjustable depth stop.

Remove the quick change. Directly apply 1/2l chuck

Good drill powerful. However, the Quick Change Arbor seems to have been an after thought. When you place the appropriate arbor chuck in the quick change, there is only room enough for a VERY short drill bit.
The quick change is nice, BUT should not be on this drill! I can’t use it!

I would buy this product again, for sure.

The Mag drill is used in an industrial environment, on heavy steel. Its a great drill and does exactly what it is supposed to do. The safety features are great.
