Milwaukee 3632-21 M12™ Green 360° 3-Plane Laser Kit

Very disappointed with this laser. I bought it for doing layout of a house with many bumpouts and jogs when I discovered that I couldn't get a receiver for my trusty DeWalt DW089K (old red 3 plane). This M12 laser has some good things, but overall it's a huge let down.
Pros:
- LOVE the case and foam insert. Love that it has storage for the receiver and clamp as well (which I also bought).
- The 1/4 and 5/8 threaded holes on the bottom are excellent. I can use it with my transit tripods, including my elevator tripod.
- I have several other M12 tools and batteries, so the capability is great.
- No complaints on the size, it seems well built and solid.
- The magnets hold EXCELLENT to thin metal! Solid!
CONS:
- The case needs a slight change. There is not enough clearance for the receiver clamp screw when the clamp is not attached to the receiver. I don't want to attach the clamp every time just to store it in the case.
- The green really isn't any better than the red DeWalt outdoors, I can't see either one. This was really disappointing as that's the main claim for the green lasers, they are brighter. Maybe, but still can't see it.
- The laser lines themselves leave something to be desired. They are wide and quite fuzzy. Compared to my DW089K (which are sharp and thin), they look like a crayon vs a fine point pen.
- Speaking of the laser lines, this laser projects ghost lines from the glass windows. Not great.
- The fine tune knob for adjusting direction is a MAJOR letdown. It is way too sensitive while also have a huge dead spot when changing direction (backlash in the drive mechanism). The other issue is that it's not intuitive. It's mounted to the side of the laser instead of on top like the DeWalt (which operates perfectly and is very intuitive to use). Just trying to align the beam to the receiver 16ft away was incredibly frustrating. Actually, I never got it adjusted right and used a different method.
- The receiver is well built, but has several flaws. First, it does not tell you how far away the beam it from center like my Topcon rotary laser receiver. Why not? Second, no rear display. Third, the lights on the back edge are on the wrong side. To see them, the detector bar has to be down, which means the laser may not get to the bar if there is uneven flooring or other construction stuff in the way (including an uneven footing). Compared to my Topcon rotary laser and receiver, this just isn't a very good receiver setup. Sadly this was the primary reason I bought this laser to begin with.
This really is a bummer to write this review, but after seeing so much positivity from online reviews and youtube videos, this is a real letdown. If it was about half the cost, I'd say that'd be a fair price. After using it for about 30 minutes, it's clear that this will be returned. Maybe the Hilti is better, or possibly the Stabilia or Spectra.

The best over ..lots of power to get the job done. .

I bought the laser about 3 months ago and I've never dropped it. I turned it on at work and two more crossed lines appeared below the line. I sent it for warranty and it came back the same way...

I love using my bosses for are soler panel lay outs I just wish I had one of my own 😭

The Plane with Milwaukee stand is good to go straight out of the box. Simple straight forward operation and great site with green lasers.

Great laser for layout, lines, plumbs, elevations and crosshairs.

The only complaints I have are minor. It would be nice if the lateral adjust dial would would keep moving instead of hitting a limit. It would also be nice to have a horizontal elevation dial. Sometimes I had wished it had a magnet on the bottom but I can imagine cleaning metal shavings off of it every time I use it may be irritating as well.

Great laser! Works great! Easy to adjust for fine tuning. Great that it comes with a magnet to mount to steel studs or whatever.

Best quality magnet is amazing has an adjustable knob that comes in clutch when you're trying to square objects off love it
