Good for home, but less compatible
I like this 8" slide miter saw. But why bosch no circular saw with the same size blade? Since this are very suitable for home use, why don bosch come out with more compatible for both (Miter Saw & Circular Saw) with using same blade size attachable. I'm multiple fabricator, wood/metal/plumbing/electrical/building construction......etc. That's why i looking for the tools that can support each other and more compatible.

Do I really need another miter saw? I've had the Bosch 12 inch for years. They don't get any better than that. Thirty Five years ago I was gifted an electric miter saw that took the sawing industry to a new level in 1968 when the tool came out. Still cuts accurately, no compounds though, but what a saw it is.
So do I really need an 8.5 inch saw? Along with my other miter saws I have a top of the line table saw and a radial arm saw from the 1950's. Of course those machines are hard to move around. The Bosch CM8S is light at 37 pounds which makes it great to have in your tool arsenal.
The saw is a twelve amp cutting machine. A real work horse that slices 12 inches at 90 degrees. Powerful, everything you have come to expect from Bosch. I really like the saw and it's not that expensive. Cut's crown molding, window trim, door trim, base board, and more. Perfect for the finish carpenter.
If you want to use it for framing and decking....no problem. I say get it. Make it part of your war chest. Light weight and doesn't take up a lot of room in your shop or truck.

After some research, I decided on this saw as I have limited space in my shop, portability was not an issue for me, but it is a nice feature. I also got this to fit into an existing miter saw bench, which with a few alterations (to the bench it fits quite nicely. I've cut a number of different woods already and so far the CM8S has performed perfectly. It seems quite well built, pretty quiet and the clamp works quite well to secure items both to the fence and table. It was not quite true out of the box, but the adjustment was pretty easy and now straight and miter cuts are true and sharp. My only complaint is the dust collection, very little makes it into the bag and even seems to get clogged in the chute going to the bag. Besides that issue, I'm very happy with the saw and would highly recommend.

I just received this saw, it's a great saw but does not have a motor brake. All of my other miter saws have motor brakes. Very surprised this one doesn't. When speed is important, I rely on the blade to quickly stop to do repeat cuts. It's a great saw, but would like to know why Bosch wouldn't have this incorporated into the saw.

Have only tried this 8.5" sliding miter saw one week but happy with the ease of carry, length of slide, flexibility of bevel and angle movement and a few other positives. The std 40 tooth construction blade is likely OK for construction work.. but not fine finishing. Bosch direct does not have a 8.5" blade for finishing work.. only 8 and 9". With two new complete shoulders ease of carry is important........ The saw does not yet cut as smoothly as my former model 2013 Makita sliding 10" but maybe a better finishing blade will work fine.

After looking at the many different miter saw options, I decided to give the saw a go. What a terrific saw. Super accurate & easy to use. Comes with an owners manual that is very well written and highly detailed. This saw is definitely old school... built very sturdy and has no gimmicky features... I've been using the saw for a major home renovation, including a lot of trim work, and this saw makes highly accurate cuts. I replaced the stock blade with a Freud. Cuts so smooth and accurate on trim you can barely see where the cut is when you put the two pieces together. I've read some of the complaints about this saw that I'd like to address... 1) no laser... Who cares! One thing I LOVE about this saw is that if you are having any problems lining up the blade to the mark, you can look straight down through the saw housing from above and see exactly where the blade is contacting the wood. Its a simple feature, its brilliant, and negates the need for a laser which is just another thing to go wrong anyways. 2) not being able to bevel in both directions. Again, who cares? Professional carpenters have been using single sided bevel miter saws for decades without tearing their hair out... its really no big deal.
To me, this saw seems designed to be low on frills, high on accuracy and performance, which is exactly what I was looking for. The features is does come with are very practical and make using the saw a joy. My only regret is that I didn't get this saw sooner. TIP: if you've got some serious work ahead of you, get the BOSH miter saw stand to go with this saw. Makes working with longer pieces super easy. BOSCH, I love this saw and wouldn't change a thing.

Quality Saw, Dust Control Could Be Improved.....
Looked at larger miter saws and jumped when I came across this saw that gave me the nearly the same capabilities in a smaller footprint as my shop space is quite limited. I have used Bosch table top tools for many years (I have a TS4000 that with minor adjustments, blade stiffeners and a aftermarket gauge gives me all the precision I need) so I had an expectation of quality. Like another reviewer noted, dust control is not great. I hooked my CT-26 to the dust port and honestly, needed to check it twice to see if it was even powered on based on the amount of dust this saw threw out ! Overall, quality of cut is excellent out of the box with just very minor adjustments to make it spot on, but dust control could stand to be improved. Excellent value for what I paid for it on sale.

Bosch reduced dust collection options for America?
This would be a great saw except Bosch appears to go out of its way to reduce the ability of contractors in America to get adequate dust collection from the saw. The UK version has a much more advanced dust management system. I guess Bosch doesn't understand that one of the primary drivers of market share to companies like Festool and Sawstop is their attention to dust control.
