Every time I used this model it would pinch my fingers when pushed all the way in. I had replaced my k3 style with this one but after using it 3 times a it pinching my finger 3 times I went and purchased another k3 model.

We purchased the toilet auger because I've finally reached the age where my stools are sometimes too large to go down the toilet drain by themselves. We had a choice: pay a plumber some unknown but assuredly large amount to clear the drain for us. I decided to try to do it myself and, as it turned out, had the same problem using three different toilets over a three day period. The auger worked perfectly each time!

Tried using it to clear a clog. It broke. First and only time using it.

3 main issues:
1) The snake easily disconnected from the handle that gets rotated, leaving the snake in the toilet without a way to retrieve it, save for grabbing hold of it and pulling it out manually.
2) Even when it didn't disconnect, the nice "push the button and it telescopes closed" shown in the video was not at all my experience; instead, I pushed the button and tried telescoping it closed, only to have the snake move back out again. The fit of the snake in the handle tubing was so tight that the only way to retract the snake was to take hold of the snake itself (which had just been in the toilet) and manually shove it through the tubing.
3) The design of the snake head traps solid waste without a way to remove it. Not great for in-home use/storage.
It did, however, do the job.

Bought at big box home improvement store to unclog a toilet. Followed instructions carefully and even watched video before use. On first attempt -- only using hand power, no attached drill -- the coiled head of the auger compressed and snapped free of the main line, making it useless as a clearing tool. Store said they could not take it back since it is a toilet item, said go to Ridgid. Looked up the "Full Lifetime Warranty" info on Ridgid site, says we have to ship it back, blah blah. Not worth the time to go through that cumbersome process of applying for warranty, getting a box, boxing it up, sending it off. We got things to do! We need tools that work. (Note that we use tools very ably -- have a full wood shop and metal shop and do our own house and ranch work.) What do you say, Ridgid? Got any way to make a busy person feel better about their very first Ridgid purchase?

If only it worked like the video
The snap button mechanism does not work like it does in the video. When extending it works OK. When retrieving the line the snake does not work it's way back into the sheath. You have to manually do it. There's no other way to get the snap button to go into the upper hole. unless the line is FULLY in and you push the sheath down into the mechanism. Don't get me started about what you have to do if it gets stuck.
The device works, but buyer beware. It's not as easy as the video suggests. Your gloves will get wet.

Best product for Amateur or Pro
I am a very Senior Citizen with a very cantankerous toilet. You name it, and it has clogged my toilet. I have tried almost every possible tool and combination of tools with varying degrees of success. At best, it took me 10 minutes to unclog the toilet. The K6P allows me to clear those recurring clogs in under 5 minutes, including the time for me to mumble, ":!@#%$ Not again!". It's now even quicker because all I have to do is shrug when I learn of the clog. The smile I have when the job is done lasts even longer.

I finally pulled the plug on the price point... I have used about 8 other toilet augers, and this is by far the best!

Bead a easy clean head cover with softer click on
Today I first time used this tool successfully. I am satisfied but that doesn't mean RIDGID has to stop here. First the augur snake head I feel could be covered with some kind of disposable synthetic thin socks that would pull of the stuck poop inside the snaked head and make it easy for the owner to clean. The clip which holds the folded snaked should be more user friendly without much pressure as aged population usually would need it often for health reason.
