Works great when working. saw failed after a year
worked great, good power does require a few batteries to get any decent amount of work done. short box worth of wood requires 4-5 large batteries. trigger switch failed was told parts are not available, now a $500 paper weight

The chainsaw is junk. I used it maybe 5 times and thoroughly cleaned and oiled it each time. The bar oil leaks everywhere when stored and the saw will last for maybe 5 minutes before the 60V battery is completely dead. Now it appears as through the battery wont even charge so I don't know if the saw did something to the battery as well.

I bought this about a month ago to cut down some trees, and when it is working it is great but I spend too much with the chain tension and today it stopped working on full charge battery. This is supposed to be a professional tool and does not live up to it

Nice saw, poor batteries.
There's nothing wrong with the 20" chainsaw itself AFAIK. It's the 15 amp batteries that are the problem. I recently purchased a spare battery (since before spare batteries were impossible to find), only to find out it doesn't charge at all. The big problem is that I purchased the battery in a city 400 miles away while on vacation, all the while thinking I had finally scored some extra work time with the saw. But when I brought it home and tried to charge it . . . . . nada. Now I have to decide how if at all I can return the battery and either get my money back or get a replacement.

Best chainsaw I ever owned. Outstanding battery life and reliability. I don’t use a chainsaw everyday so when you do get one out it’s usually not gonna start. No more downtime for me just keep the batteries charged and pull the trigger

Good saw with a bad oiler.
This saw has good power and decent run time. The oiler doesn't work. It doesn't lube the chain and the oil continually leaks out of the bottom of the saw.

Bought this saw with a 12 ah battery I will say it's a cutting machine I've cut many trees down and even battled a huge oak tree deff cuts great with a new chain and it doesn't take much to drain batteries on warm days but I will say if they pair this up with 9ah batteries it's definitely a better combination the 9ah batteries last alot longer I feel like

Dewalt 20" battery chain saw
Purchased the saw to replace gas chainsaw as well as for quieter use camping. overall performance is better then expected however chain replacement ( one should have a spare ) is proving to be quite difficult. Most options and advise is to drop the bar down to 18" and more chain options. Really beats the purpose and very frustrating to say the least!

Worked great until chain tensioner failed
I too.am having the chain tensioner problem.
About two weeks ago, I finally took the time to contact DeWalt customer service by phone.
I did my best to explain the problem to the customer service representative who obviously spoke English as a second language.
She told me she would send out a replacement part.
I got a package from DeWalt three days ago containing a screw that holds the housing together.
????
From all the reviews citing the chain tensioner problem I would think this would front and center issue for customer service.
Please do what it takes to get the chain tensioner repaired/replaced.
