Firstly some good things about the saw. I’ve had it for a couple years now doing steady work with it and it’s held up nicely. Having the advantage version is nice because of the ability to use multiple batteries with it instead of being limited to just flex volt or 20 volt. Having the blade change tool on the saw and out of the way is very convenient, it also forces people to remove the battery before disassembling the blade which is a nice safety feature. As many have mentioned the shoe is not square to the saw. If you follow the guide it is off 1/8 inch. The other thing I dislike about the saw is that the base plate is very flat at the front, the beveled edge is not enough when cutting through different material. It often gets hung up on the lip of plywood sheathing or OSB material.

Shoe not Square to blade, no adjustment
Just like others have found, this tool is not usable with a guide fence as the blade is badly out-of-square with the shoe. Fence on the left, tool skews off to the right away from desired line. Fence on the right, tool quickly binds and the blade stops.
I sent mine in TWICE for warranty repair of this issue: first time it was sent back with a used, badly scratched shoe still un-square; second time I don't think they did anything except put it in a different box and ship it back to me?
I'd speculate that the root cause is the shoe isn't drilled correctly: likely an engineering design problem, not a manufacturing one.
Now what? Get into a fight with customer service trying to get my money back? No, I wasn't up for that, so I decided to implement my own fix by filing down the boss (looks like a yellow washer but is actually a molded feature of the yellow plastic housing) on the left side of the cutting depth, hinge pin. I filed down 1/16" and then inserted a 1/16" washer on the right side, first loosening the screws at the back of the shoe, then re-tightening after I installed the modified hinge pin assembly. Usable now.
DeWalt should do the right thing and have a corrected shoe made and fix all these junk saws.

Don’t waste your $ / shoe not square with blade
How did this make it through a quality control check from the supposed top of the line power tool manufacturer? It is impossible to cut along a line with any precision since the guide on the show does not line up at all with the position of the blade. FAIL!

Had this a few years now. Works well but kerf line is off by a 1/4 inch.. so thats always annoying having to watch the blade.. and does not track a straight edge either.. from what i read there is no fix for this..

I bought this to replace another cordless dewalt circular saw that was not giving me enough power anymore. It has plenty of power out of the box but unfortunately has the same issue as many other reviews here. The shoe is offset by 1/8in from the saw so it is hard to make accurate cuts. Even worse, when ripping the blade is not square with the shoe so it starts to get bound up by the material you are cutting which can get dangerous. I went back to my old saw because this one just doesn't work.

Blade not aligned with kerf guide
Bought this saw yesterday. Took it out of the box, installed the blade that came with it, and the cut is 1/8" to the right of the kerf guide. No provision to adjust this. It's like the wrong thickness arbor was installed on the motor, the blade is too far to the right, or the kerf guide is too far to the left. Otherwise, a very nice saw. Lightweight, powerful and quiet. Unfortunately, cannot produce accurate cuts without a properly aligned guide. Will be returning it today.

I use the 7¼ flex volt saw daily. Usually I use an 8ah 20 volt battery and it last surprisingly a very long time cutting. The saw performs as good as an electric saw and I would definitely recommend this to add to a collection.
