Brightening up my world but not by much
I got this flashlight in a tool bundle but I don't really use it on site because its bulky and doesn't seem like the quality is there for keeping it on the job site. When I am working in a panel room the spotlight functionality doesn't really come in handy because I have to be up close and personal. If I put it in the panel it doesn't light up enough and if I put it behind me it causes my shadow to overcast the panel. Other than occasional power outages and just keeping a emergency flashlight around the house I wouldn't recommend for worksite application.

Terrible flashlight shuts off after about 30 seconds. Took it back they replaced it, new ones doing the exact same thing about 5 months later

Super bright, extreme battery life.
I've owned this for roughly 6 years, I has never failed me. Albeit I don't use it a ton, When I do need it It is SUPER handy, and lights up the entire room.

I have had this flashlight for years. It's a great light. I use it all the time. It is bright and can reach a good distance away. The only problem is the switch. Every since I got it the switch functions intermittently. I tried to find a replacement switch to replace it but no luck. It was a gift from my belated husband our last Christmas, so I have dealt with the issue. However, it has gotten much worse, to the point that it might come on after pressing the switch 20-30 times. It's not reliable in an emergency situation. It's a shame because it is a great flashlight when it works

Poorly designed for LED light replacement
I purchased my Worklight about 4 years ago. Great illumination for home repair projects in poorly lighted spaces. Two weeks ago, when I turned the light on it worked for perhaps 10 minutes before dying. Now I click the switch, the light bulb flashes then immediately dies.
I checked the battery and its fully charged.
Appears to need a new LED light.
The manual provides no instructions for swapping out the LED light.
Instead the manual states " Do not attempt to repair the worklight. To assure product safety and reliability, repairs, maintenance, and adjustments should be performed by authorized DEWALT service
centers."
Cost estimate from the DEWALT service center for changing out the LED light exceeded the cost of buying a replacement (excluding batter) on Amazon.
You would hope that DEWALT would design a more serviceable product than one that just becomes electronic waste in a landfill.

A good, but overpriced and underfeatured light.
The DCL040 is a reasonably good flashlight, but generally overpriced for what you get. The only reason I bought it was because a local store had a super deal, below $20 for the bare tool.
The light is usefully bright. Being able to use the DeWalt battery system is this light’s greatest distinguishing feature. The swivel head and ability to stand on its battery are nice.
But that's where it ends.
For the suggested retail price of $84, I would expect a focusable beam, different brightness levels, and an included (rather than optional) belt clip, features found on flashlights commonly available at half the price.
If using the DeWalt battery system is important, it's a fine enough light if you find it at a good price. Otherwise, you'll be happier spending your money on something else.

Great light for 3-years — light smoked out
This light was great while it lasted — I bought this light on a set of other DeWalt power-tools. I’m all for the yellow and black but I was disappointed with this light because it died about 3-years after I bought it. It’s bright and compact with a long battery life if you use the larger DeWalt battery packs. I’m unsure what I’ll replace this light with but I’m going to reconsider buying another DeWalt light and make sure I add a protection plan. It looks like these lights have a 3-4 year lifespan based on the similar experiences mentioned in the other reviews.

This little light is pretty durable, and surprisingly bright for only one tiny LED. I left it out in the snow for a week last winter and forgot about it, but it still works. I do think its a bit overpriced, but its convenient to have around. I would like to explore some other options though. DeWalt makes quite a few lights that I would like to add to my collection.

I like the design of the light but it started blinking after being on for just a minute. Making it pretty much useless. Now it won’t come on at all. I know the battery is good I have plenty of 20max batteries. Should last longer than a year or 2

Keeps turning off, unreliable. Wish I it worked.
Great when it worked!! I can’t rely on it. I don’t want to put down DEWALT since they have many great products, this one does not work correctly.
