I used this grinder daily for years until I bought the new model Dewalt came out with. It still works and I still own it but just got something more advanced with variable speed. Good grinder for the price.

We use the DWE402 for all kinds at work. We grind using flap disc from 24 grit to 320 grit. We use cut off wheels to cut all types of metal. We polish stainless steel using polishing buffs. We have been using the 402 line of grinder for a lot of years, most have been great grinders. Only thing I do to them is replace brushes when needed. Having read some of the other reviews it seems as some people are trying to use a side grinder for something that it's not designed for and getting poor performance. I can tell you using these grinders in a production fab shop, we push these very hard and they hold up very well.

Not sure why some people say this doesn't have a trigger lock, mine sure does. I've put this DWE402 through grading on boat trailers, cutting up car carriers, metal furniture, angle iron - mostly home projects but I"m a busy boy... When I bought it there were lots of choices but DeWalt tools seem to always work. I have several because of that. This one should outlast me. Has plenty of power, I can't imagine running it out of power doing the jobs for which is was intended. Eleven amps is a pretty good push.

Missing wrench; no port for Allen wrench included
I received & used the grinder to remove wood. Attempting to change the disc, I could not locate an Allen wrench port. Those to remove the wheel/disc are round. "Square peg in round hole" just doesn't work. I hesitate to really crank on the wheel with unnecessary leverage for concern of damaging the unit. Q: How does the Allen wrench work with this grinder? Or, what type of wrench will work? (Manual did not included anything on how to change a disk &/or use the Allen wrench).

I have been using Dewalt for about twelve years now and they have always worked great. I am starting to wonder about the new stuff though. This is replacing a Black & Decker angle grinder that gave me three years of light service so this doesn't have very big shoes to fill.

I built my welding table with the help of this Dewalt angle grinder. 11 Amps of power and the grip design never fatigued my hand.

No cutting wheel/diamond wheel guard included
I've installed a wheel and powered it on, but haven't gotten grinding yet. A LOT more substantial than my 20 year old Craftsman grinder that died.
In my senior years, am trying to be more safety-conscious, so I actually read the manual and discovered that for cutting/diamond wheels there's a special guard that's not shipped with the bare tool or kit.
I called DeWalt customer support and they shipped me a cutting guard at no charge!

Old one was better than new one.
i have had one for over 10 years it still works great! i purchased this one to be able to switch back and forth between tools, the switch on the new one is awful, the spindle lock is very hard to hold in and operate wrench at same time, and lock on button awkward to use.
Very dissatisfied!

I bought this to replace the grinder I broke. I’m pleased with the features and power that this has.
