Sheared socket fitting (metal failure)
Purchased this product a couple of years ago. I only use the tool a couple of times a year. The metal part protruding from the head that fits into the socket completely sheared off when torquing to spec within the functioning range of the tool. Because the incident occurred outside the one-year warranty, I am told by customer service that the tool is not covered, even though the failure is clearly a material defect (i.e. weakness in the metal) and not related to the mechanical mechanism or due to human error. I can understand that the warranty would not apply after a year for a failure in the torque mechanism, but in this case, the warranty should apply to the integrity of the metal. Given the response I was given, I would not recommend purchasing, unless Dewalt changes its policy on the warranty.

I have the same one for maybe 3 years, been using it twice a year for tire changes. Been working good since this year but the ratcheting mechanism fail, can't get no warranty on it cause I don't have my invoice so will probably look to buy another kind.

I've had this 1/2 Torque wrench for over a year and a half now. It was seldom used for summer/winter tire swaps, but I have recently just begun using this tool professionally in the automotive business. 2 weeks into my new job the ratcheting mechanism has begun to fail after every click so it's becoming more time consuming and harder to rotate each time. For a tool that was nicely kept and lightly used up until now I figured it would last but it has failed me at such an important time, I cannot even warranty it due to already being over a year. So now I must find a replacement as my job is critical on things being torqued to spec...

Worked well until the handle came loose
Worked well at first to tighten wheel lugnuts a couple times a year. Always set it the lowest torque before putting it away in the case. The handle has come loose and now I do not trust the readings because the handle spins freely so there is no way to know what it is set at. I love Dewalt but hope for better quality especially considering I am using it to keep my family safe.

Worked great until it didn’t
I bought this wrench 2-3 years ago. Nice looking wrench, (I use SnapOn at work) I used it primarily for my travel trailer(90 ftlbs) and wife’s tires on her car (92 ftlbs). Worked awesome for maybe a dozen times and then that was it nothing registering torque. I thought it was me at first but when I switched to my truck wheels @ 140 ftlbs and it just went past I knew something was wrong. The wrench was off warranty by this time, hardly used but still over the one year warranty. So I contacted Dewalt and was told it’s off warranty, yes I know I just need it fixed. Was given a Service Centre number to call for repair. I was asked how old it was and promptly told its off warranty and they do not fix things not covered under the warranty. So now I have an awesome new looking torque wrench which basically a paperweight. So I have a choice, bring my SnapOn wrench home four times a year or buy another cheaper brand that hopefully lasts longer than Dewalt did. Is it right we live in such a disposable society and the big boys don’t care about contributing to the waste? Kinda disappointed with this. It’s your choice to buy such products too.

Adjusting handle is loose after zeroing .
I bought the 1/2 inch drive torque wrench a couple years ago. I only use it for wheel nuts. The first time i used it it was fine. The second time, when i zero`d it after using it the adjuster handle came loose. I took it back to where i purchased it and they fixed it. The next time i used it same issue. I1m a retired millwright, i have used torque wrenches through out my whole career. It only gets used a couple times a year. I`m not impressed with this from Dewalt.
