Now I have had this for 10 years or so. It no longer locks. I plan on replacing it. I work on cars, also worked as a vender at a truck and trailer shop and used it lots. Love the markings on the tape as well.

This tape has a removable magnetic tip- nice feature, but the clip that holds the magnet on the hook is too tight, so you can’t actually install it unless you file a few thou off the fingers of the clip. Also, when it’s installed, the magnet interferes with the inside/outside movement of the hook- makes it too stiff to move. It’s a nice tape otherwise- fits your hand well, has a reliable 10 ft standout, numbers on both sides of the tape, protective coating on the first 6”, convenient, positive blade lock.

The new features are great but not durable
The double sided numbers are great for long distance measuring. The magnetic top is helpful for attaching to metal pieces and picking up nails. However the tape did break after a month of medium use on job sites.

I generally don't need to measure much beyond 12 feet, so this tape is perfect for carrying around. The tape is wide, easy to read, has a good standout distance, and the first few inches are reinforced. I can't believe no one ever thought to put markings on the back of the tape, but I've been surprised at how useful this feature is.
The tape feels good in my hand and seems very sturdy. It has a strong retraction, and the lock works well and is easy to operate with my thumb. It feels silly to mention this, but the clip works really well. It seems like a weird thing to notice, but I have other tapes that just don't hook into my pocket very easily. The clip on this tape hooks into my pocket without looking every time. This is super useful when you're working on a ladder with your hands above your head.
All in all, this is now my go-to tape measure. I have many of them like most of us probably do, but this is the one I reach for now.

Really impressed with the build of this tape. It feels well built in the hand. The over moulding makes it comfortable to use. The tape itself is thick so it does not just fold over like most tapes and it has a coating that feels quite durable. I'm glad that it has measurements on the underside of the tape as well. This tape has survived multiple drops in the few weeks I have been using it. It still retracts easily and the reach is quite impressive. Lastly, the belt clip design makes it easy to attach and remove the tape to your belt or bag. Overall, DeWalt did a great job on this tape and it has become my current favorite.

Best 16ft magnetic tape on the market
I’ve had this for about two weeks now and I can say it’s the best 16ft tape measure I’ve had. The only downside I would say is the end of the tape doesn’t give you the option to hook the tape on side.

ToughSeries 16 ft. Tape Measure
Tough tape, good price. The removable magnet is strong and the tape easy to read. The fact it's double sided print comes in handy. It extends out over 12' easily and makes it easier to measure the height of tall ceilings, etc.

Great features for a tape measure
I love the double sided markings on this tape measure. We don't always work on one side of the tape measure so this is such a great feature and the big numbers make it easy to read for my aging eyes. But the best feature may just be the removable magnet at the beginning of the tape which has enough holding power to stick to a metal object but not too much that it's hard to unattach. Love it!

FINALLY, a tape measure that is built DeWalt tough
Let me first say - Great Job DeWalt!
The DeWalt 16’ Tough Series DWHT36916 Tape Measure blade/tape will extend from the case up to a full 12-feet without any assistance AND before the blade/tape even bends. The wide width of the blade/tape and the finding the numbers on both the top and bottom of the tape gives you the convenience of never having to play around to find the measurement.
By adding the available magnet attachment, you get the enhanced capability for the blade/tape to ‘stay attached’ when measuring a metal surface. There is also no wrestling with the clip – It’s very easy to slip in and/or unclip from the blade/tape. This Tape Measure has a well-built protective housing and it fits easily into any size hand; and the thick and sturdy secure grips make it easy to control.
This is a great small, yet versatile, “Go-To” Measuring Tape for any project. It will get used over and over and will last for many years!
