New 140z model is not as good as the old model IMO
I have been using the 14oz DeWalt hammer for years now. This new model is a little lack luster compared to the last. Out of all the new model I have tried 70% of them vibrate more then the last model. This new model also has a smooth top where as the old model had 3 slots that helped prying in lumber.

I bought one of these over 3 years ago and it still treats me just as well as a brand new hammer. I have used it for everything from construction, framing, concrete work, cabinetry, mechanics, bridge rehabilitation, and so on. The milled face will wear down quite fast, but it still hits nails dead on. It really does hit like a 28oz. You won't regret buying this hammer!

Light weight and packs a punch!
This hammer is exactly as advertised. Extremely well balanced and packs a punch. It really does drive nails like a much heavier tool. I also noticed the vibration/shock normally felt using a wood handled hammer is considerably less. I’ve retired my old reliable 20oz and will be using my new Dewalt 14oz going forward.

So far seams like a solid hammer. I prefer wood California hammers but this hammer seams solid. The welds look good, the milled face is holding up well so far. The handle is very grip able, even when wearing gloves in the winter.

lot of force with less fatigue
hi got this hammer recently and i just got a chance of putting it to use. I built my friends kids a shed/clubhouse well most of it went up with a nail gun but I decided to test this hammer on this project so I put up 2 walls with it. IT WAS AMAZING easy on my hand and a lot of force. the nail pickup magnet didn't always pickup the nail in the right direction but it's not terrible but I don't see it as a major feature.

Overall it feels good, not to heavy but perfect to strike down super nailed 2x4's. A bit different from the wood hammers I use but it feels strong in the hand and when you strike a nail it doesnt feel like its going to break, also the magnet to hold the nail is very good, i havent had a nail bounce off of it yet.

Hits like a sledge, feels lighter
Used for general framing purposes for the last couple of weeks. I appreciate the grip and how it reduces felt vibration. It seems to drive nails easier than some of my heavier framing hammers. I don’t have any issues pulling nails or ripping boards out with the claw.

This is a well built, sturdy, and large hammer. Very impressed by the weight to size ratio and how well built it feels. The magnet and slot for holding a nail in place is a new feature for me, and one that helps improve workflow a ton!

Great weight, hits like a truck for only being 14oz. The nail set magnet is definitely a must have makes jobs so much easier. The grip material is great with or without gloves, doesnt slip under heavy swings.

Heavier than the 14 oz. name suggests
The 14 oz. in the name refers to the weight of the head. This waffle-faced hammer, intended for framing and demo, weighs in at almost 2 lbs. overall and is about 16.5" long. It's too heavy and unwieldy for me, and I think it would be a much better tool for more people if it had more of the weight in the head and less in the handle. That said, it seems extremely rugged and could stand up to a lot of rough use on a construction/rehab site.
