used it for a couple of months and the blades , rollers need replacing , then sparks were flying so I took it to service center for repairs and there it sits, have not seen it for almost three months cause they can't get parts , if you sell something please supply the parts to fix it

the planer itself seem to work great for 6 months until it boke down and now I am waiting for two months while the service center try to get parts for it , if you sell something you should have repair parts readily available, I am loosing faith in Dewalt products , I'm only a hobbyist not a contractor but over the last three years I have had enough problems with your products that I'm considering switching to red products

Great planer, lousy dust/chip management
I have had this planer for 2 years now and have really enjoyed the results. I have run cocobolo, hickory, cedar, pine, red and white oak, walnut, wenge, etc. In other words, just about every type of wood available.
However, like so many others, the dust/chip management is atrocious. I don’t have a true dust collection system, but do use my shop vac, with cyclone separator, whenever I plane wood. And I have run it without the hood. And both ways result in chips jamming the exit, it just takes longer with the hood off.

Falling apart before first use
Trying to plane a 20X20 area of hard wood brazilian decking and already went through 2 sets of blades and now the motor is bouncing up and down. Looks like the screws holding it onto the house have come loose. Of course I cant find a service manual on this worthless site and i'm wasting my day trying to figure out how to repair this thing instead of working.

Though I like the planer for the job it does planing boards and doing it accurately, I absolutely HATE the dust collection design. Apparently the designer was one of the 1st or 2nd graders of one of the managers. Did anyone test this out before selling this product? The collector is horrible. I've tried almost every conceivable way of ensuring that the chips get pulled out and don't clog so bad that the majority of the chips come back out the front. WHAT A STINKING MESS THIS MAKES! I guess my next option is to redesign the collection hardware myself and have it 3D printed to try it out. Shame on Dewalt for selling an inferior product like this.

Well this planer was nice but then the blades said no... The blades chip and wore down fast so I’m sad about that also the base plate in the internal of the planer is loose and sticks up a little. It’s okay but for the price I was really disappointed...

Highly Satisfied with this 734
Purchased 5 years ago. Worked well right out of the box. Noisy must wear hearing protection. Got tired of chipping blades on knotty hardwood. Replaced cutting head with helical head. Same or better planing quality but no blade chipping. Quieter too. As good results as any competitor. I just finished planing 30 board feet of white oak. Perfect results. Little or no sanding required.

Turned my 27 year old cedar boards that were used on my dock into "good as new" condition. The circuit trips so I will have to run a new dedicated line so won't remain an issue. Also found a great way to transition from the 4" dia. dust hose down to the 2-1/4" fitting for my cyclone lid dust collector. Works like a charm!

I love this planner, but even with brand news blades, Oak does not plane well! All other woods, Cedar, pine, mahogony, CVG Fir, hard maple, etc., does great.
